Fiction Fantastic Awards Benefit

You’re invited to come and celebrate the winners of our 7th Annual Fiction Fantastic Contest: A free event that offers community members joy and inspiration! This year the Fiction Fantastic Awards ceremony has moved online, which opens up the opportunity for family and friends to attend from afar.

Emceed by local spoken word artist, Jorah LaFleur, the Benefit will feature a keynote by our celebrity judge, local author J.C. Geiger titled “Live Your Best Story,” exploring the improvisational nature of writing and life, and how a spontaneous, daring approach to the page can change the way you move through the world.

Come support the next generation of story tellers, and give back to your local literary home!

Each year, the 501(c)(3) literary nonprofit Wordcrafters in Eugene hosts Fiction Fantastic, a short story contest for young writers in Lane County. This year, over 140 stories were submitted! These stories are read by local writers, teachers, and community members, then passed on to a celebrity author, and the winning stories are published in the Fiction Fantastic anthology.

This event will be a Benefit for our young writers and community programs. In addition to the Fiction Fantastic Contest, Wordcrafters has a thriving Writers in the Schools program that works with Kalapuya High School, Elmira High School, and the John Serbu Youth in Detention program.

All donations and proceeds from the Benefit will support Wordcrafters programs for young writers across Lane County to help them hone their writing craft and tell their stories.
